Five years ago on this same day, which also a Saturday... Aya treated me to a place called, "CookBook Kitchen" located along Luna Mencias in Mandaluyong City. Then fast-forward to 5 years later, we had our Anniversary Lunch at the same location in Luna Mencias, but now it is called Eight & Co.

Bike Tire Pump Wine Bottle Opener HACK!

Ok I was browsing the blogs that I was following. And saw this very amazing hack on how to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew.

All you need is a Tire Pump and an Inflation Needle (the you attach to the pump nozzle when pumping basketballs).

Now there's no excuse of have not having any wine with your steak or during your picnic.

Garden Re-Layout

All the herbs and small plants under the tree

So this morning, you were able to preview how our garden looks like. You might also have noticed that the set-up/layout was different from what we had a few days ago. So to maximize the area, we had to move and segregate the plants from herbs, and the larger plants and trees from the rest of the bunch.

Anyway sharing to everyone the photographs of our re-layout.

Red Chili, Green Chili, Oregano and Malunggay near the sidewalk

Good Morning Garden~!

Good Morning~!

It is really nice waking up to see this beside your porch. As you may have noticed, the common area's grass has been dried out all summer long. Since my neighbors do not care, I've started the initiative to bring it back to life.

Hopefully soon, this garden will be full of plants and herbs.

Just wanted to make that update, and so I'm off to work~!

Growing the Garden - New Plants

After making that trip yesterday at Quezon City Circle Garden at the QMC. I had started arranging the work area.

This was one of two branching plants
of Oregano from Mother's garden
So far here's how our current set-up looks like

Originally my wife and I planned to have the plants place in front our house... but found that the best place to make our garden is the neglected common area beside our house.

We got new plants to add to our garden such as a Mayana (Painted Nettle), Strobilanthe (Persian Shield), Tarragonand a Malunggay Tree (Horseradish). As well as 4-kilos of Loam Soil (which costs around $1 USD for 2-Kilos/Sack).

Aside from that, my mother donated some plants and herbs as well... The Bromeliads that are planted on the corner of the lawn, a pot-full of Oregano, and others that I do not know what their names are.

Tarragon, Strobilanthe, Mayana & Malunggay plants
new addition to my garden
4 kilos of Loam Soil from QMC and five (5) old and disposed tiles
donated by the school I teach at.

A Trip to the Quezon City Circle Garden (QCCG at the QMC)

Ok so this morning after bringing my wife to work today, I headed straight to Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) to purchase more plants, herbs and gardening tools for the garden. Good thing the weather cooperated well today, it was neither hot or cold.

If you're living in Quezon City or from it's neighboring cities and is a total beginner in gardening, Quezon Memorial Circle is probably for you to go to. QMC, aside from being a family park, it is also home to numerous gardening shops. You might have heard of the "Manila Seedling Bank" of the 1980's to early 2000's ... some of it's tenants transferred here.

So how's the price? I'm telling you it wouldn't even cost you an arm and a leg. To give you an idea of the price for herbs, your 100 pesos ($2.12 USD) can buy you four (4) seedlings of Sweet Basil or Tarragon.

As for bigger plants, a 4-foot tall Malunggay (Horseradish) tree costs around 85 pesos ($1.80 USD); a 5-foot tall American Lemon Tree costs around 350 pesos ($7.40 USD). Like I said, it's not going to break your bank or put a hole in your wallet.

So which shop do I recommend you to buy? There's no recommendation, price really differs from one shop to another. But if you plan to buy in bulk, remember to ask for the best price. Oh and another tip, make sure when going here, make sure to wear comfortable clothes (the weather can sometimes be a b*tch).

Building the Garden~!

We have always wanted to have a garden on our front lawn. But our work schedules never permitted us of building and taking care of one. Though this day probably is a blessing for both of us.

In which I have decided to create our small garden in front of our house. So I made some trips to Quezon Memorial Circle to purchase some basic plants, seeds, gardening equipment and potting materials.

At the end of the day, this is how our little garden looks like now.
