Disassembling the Viento... WHY?!?!

So early this morning, I had the Viento disassembled... I've decided to downgrade because of some reasons, and sell some of its parts. Some of the parts for sale is the Rock Shox SID Race that I have been using as well as the On-One Fleegle Handlebar and Thomson Elite Stem combo....

It's indefinite when I'll be able to rebuild my rig again soon... hopefully when some of the parts get sold, I can get go riding once again.

Bike Commuting and Today's Metro Manila Wide Shake Drill

So its another day at the office, and just bike commuted once again to work... Trails and road really differ a lot... Though some would say that road cycling is smooth as it gets... Though it is not a reality for people who runs knobby tires on the road.

You might tell me, "Simple! Get a road bike or a commuter!"

Its not that simple, not all people can go afford and buy a new bike. So we opt to get tires fit for the road instead.

Anyway, today at school, there was an event scheduled to happen, it was a region-wide event covering the whole the Metro Manila... It is called the Shake Drill. It simulates the preparedness and preparations needed when the Big Quake comes. So the school were I teach participated... And here are some photos of what transpired.

People from other establishments also participated in the said drill, though some were oblivious of what was happening.

Our school did our part, from evacuations, transporting the injured to first aid:

Imagine what would happen if the Big Quake did happen, what would happen to these people who are oblivious and ignorant about safety and preparedness?

Curried Potatoes and Baked Fish Fillet with G.O.T

So last night, I volunteered to prepare dinner. I'm now confident that I can finally cook something up. So the recipe of choice this time is Curried Potatoes with Chicken Broth.

I didnt do it flawlessly, as I had mistakenly burnt the spices on the first try. By the second try I was able to do it properly, with the guidance of my lovely an awesome wife.

On the pther hand, my lovely and awesome wife, Aya prepared something to go with the potatoes I prepared, Baked Fish with Garlic, Onions and Tomatoes (G.O.T. not to be confused with Game of Thrones) baked in Butter, check the photos out:

Enclosed in parchment paper... Then when peeled open...

WoahMAZING!!!

Its great being able to cook and combine your dishes together, that's one awesome teamwork!

Hope to cook more soon!

When the Trail gets Muddy, the Trail gets Tough

It's the storm season already this year, and the trails just got a little tougher to go biking on. So time to put those knobbies on, from Mud Tires to DH/FR treads.

Well with the above introduction, I surely had a muddy weekend around UP Diliman's trail network last Saturday. A week before last weekend, there was a race that transpired on one of UP Diliman's trail network, the UP CHK or UP College of Human Kinetics trail. It is a 500m loop, though can be considered a newbie trail, it became a challenging one-up, after the storm that passed by...

...so for those newbies planning to ride this particular trail, make sure to equip yourself with the proper tires (DO NOT USE Fast Rolling Tires or Slicks).

Banshee Viento Build: Sponsorship of Parts [Week 11]

I wasn't able to update everyone on what happened to the Viento after Week 8. So to give everyone a track back with the bike build last year. I'll be finishing all those drafts and publish them for everyone to catch up.

November 30, 2014

Ran the Viento in a Single Speed set-up for three weeks now... just changed my perspective of a Single Speed AMHT being an impossible thing. I clearly enjoyed pedaling the bike on unpredictable, sketchy and muddy terrain... though that's the feeling when you pedal upwards. But once you get to the top and point the nose down and go down the steep hill... all hell break loose.

The Bombproof SF10 SRSuntour Epicon RLD adjusted from 120mm to 140mm
via internal travel adjustment. Definitely a bang-for-the-buck Trail/AM Fork

A 120mm travel front end, don't do lots of justice, as the fork couldn't absorb all those bombing and jumps... especially for an un-serviced SF10 SRSuntour Epicon RLD.

My First Apple Pie~

After a few pages of reading, Bob Sloan's "Dad's Own Cook Book", I have successfully made my first Apple Pie. Though the approach of the book is "idiot's guide-like", it did help me operate properly the #Moulinex Food Processor without the manual.

With my awesome wife, Aya's guidance. I was able to bake her Apple Pie recipe with my own mix last night.

Dad's Own Cook Book

Ever since my best friend and I got married, every time she would cook or bake something up, all that I would do was hover around and taste test her creations. Of course wives know their husbands best, she knew that I was getting iffy, wanting to know how to cook or bake like her...

50th Monthsary at Xin Tian Di, Crown Plaza Manila

IMG_0957

We we're scheduled last June 28 to a dinner treat by the hotel which hosted our wedding event. So what's the the special occasion all about? The occasion is because the end of the month of June marks our 50th Monthsary (since the day she said "Yes, I will be your girlfriend!") and at the same time our 2nd Monthsary since we got married.

They served us with Yang Chow Fried Rice, Deep Fried Boneless Chicken in Lemon Sauce, Crispy Noodles with Seafood, and Mapo Tofu (yes their Mapo Tofu is to die for).

Really a delicious dinner treat~
